Dec 2024 - Sounds for Paz Lira's exhibit ONTOGENIA (ONTOGENY), in Santiago, Chile. The video is by Emilia Simonetti. Exhibit curated by Carolina Arévalo. Paz Lira's exhibit explored: "the beautiful and ephemeral life of fungi" (Chilean Academy of Fine Arts). Ontogeny is "the history of a unit's structural change without it losing its fundamental organization (Maturana and Varela, 1984). This track was conceived in a live performance in NY, a couple of years ago, at an empty soon-to-be "art" gallery. Hard to think of a more different context... I was at the time starting to develop an obsession with passing live drums into the machines, samplinag them, looping them and jump into the unknown (more coming of that). Not sure how to say this, but I am really into the many possibilities of sound. I guess we just never know where things may go. Me, thankful for that. Also not sure how to say this, but I do pray every day for the genocide to stop. And I do wonder, what if these mfs would turn themselves into the study of nature instead...

"NYC labels Gold Bolus Recordings and Strategy of Tension have teamed up to put together a couple dozen tracks offered in support of the Palestinian people in the form of a digital-only compilation entitled Mandatory Liberation Vol. 1. Collectively, we are amplifying the call for an immediate cessation of destruction, displacement, and occupation in the face of Israel’s genocidal actions in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.
All proceeds from this compilation will be donated to Crips for eSims for Gaza (disabilityvisibilityproject.com/2023/12/25/crips-for-esims-for-gaza/), which donates funds that allow Palestinians to receive aid and maintain communication with one another and the outside world. This funding remains urgent, with an eliminationist regime holding the reins in Israel and the incoming regime in the US poised to make matters worse."
